on (etre) project 

 

(etre) is project of italian Salvatore Borrelli. After a first experimental phase spends between total improvvisation, fields recordings & sonorous installation, he starts to develop a strange mixure between free-folk & glitchtronica. he uses different typologies of media that he manipulates in real/time: neon, ice, glass, fire, colours & chemical substances,robots, radios, metals, ethnic instruments, working out a doughy mixture between abstraction, free/music with a particular approach that consists to produce a stratification to not correspond at primary element in a constant relation between origin & becoming, ralativity of intact forms & complexity of tracted body. He takes part to numerous festivals of electronic music  between 2003/2006. During his live (etre) uses patches created with Max/Msp extending the criterion of total improvisation in extemporaneous way and also passing through the electronic search and the praxis of the body. He develops also a special type of sound called wall-recording: a sound result directly from the auscultation of the walls. Recently he's working at different projects all free-folk. Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia

 

Harps of Fuchsia Kalmia is the new weird-folk, forest-music project of Salvatore Borrelli. This project it's entirely made in direct way, without processing or other options of disturbing. It's the ideal continuous of Wondrous Horse and it's divided in two cds: one impro-experimental called "The angular acceleration of light in the mind of the dead uncle in Michigan" recorded in two months, and another called "In the terminal sun with your old joy in my hands" based on a free-form of fingerpicking a little abstract and more lyrical recorded in one year.

(etre) takes part at new compilation for Muertepop called "Talk about Muertepop # 2". This song is dedicated to Kraut-music, called: "You can find a neu-cluster of the Faust". (etre) is also present with a track on  Nexsound / Skyapnea, about the sculpture in music, called: "Reprocessing the voice between memory, drone-memory, frequency-memory as a painting " for Vibrating Portraits. NEW CD-R

"I can't take to see HIGHER my head..."

"I can't take my head to see HIGHER becouse the sky is landing over my neck" is the the third and last cd of the "Trilogy of the voice". The work is dedicated to two artists: Angus MacLise and Jackson Pollock and inspired by their individual researchs; only two tracks for about 50 minutes. "I don't take..." is, first of all, a cd that it talks of love and it's dedicated to all lovers. This cd is been used and conceived for an installation in "Circolo degli artisti" in Rome called: "Mumu goes round & round" based on a common work togheter with Federica Ravanelli that she has worked on the installation and on the photos. The continuity with analog & digital working is based on the use of some instruments: Kalimba, Zither, Shruti box, Esraj , Lap steel & Electric guitars and a massive use of field recordings (slaughterhouse, mountains, thermal baths, marchs of the Palio in Siena). This work is been pressed in 200 copies on the new (etre)'s label: Riz(h)ome Records and it has 7 different covers and 3 types of different paper inside.

this work is the sequel of "post-fordist" but more tough, experimental & folk...  in a style more noticeable intentions of radical electronica & the last frontiers of folk. The work is based on 4 long tracks for a total of 42 minutes, approximately; more a video made by Virgili Villoresi called "Dear dead woman (for Paul Celan)" organized with images of home movies without copyright. this is a collection of intimate moments of dead lives  very hipnotic ans strange. titles of cd is: "Voices stomp flames for requiem times". it's been pressed on the french cult label Ruralfaune.

Fabio Orsi & me were at Piombino Experimenta 2: with one installation called "no track, no voice but memories: this is a room!" on dislocation between memory & sensation based on field recordings & images (for us the memory exists only as proiection but it doens't concern specified individuations and it destroyes all his contains). And an impro-set based on broken tournable, drones, shortwaves, voice & three laptops.  We thank all beautiful people there.

an incredible impro-set @ "interferenze festival" with Elio Martusciello. we've played with some home movies reproducing the moviment of bodies.

"a post-Fordist parade" preserves a disquieting tension between chaos, ordinary drama and private memories. his theme is the strike of events and brutal exhibitionism of all-is-possible. the conductor thread of the cd it's the door as place of locking up. In every track are sampled padlocks, medioeval main entrances, doors of iron, shields and every type of box opened and closed: for me the doors rapresent perfectly the essence of the post-fordism: they are interlands of oblivion that dissemble memories, voices. my work hates the historical illusion of becoming; it isn't contiguity, becoming: only cuts.

this live deals with sonorous flows by now indistinguishable that originate from myriads of plural events completely disconnected each other to the flow of two seconds of presence that they crosses and of they unravel in virtual and casual way without any necessity to be. The live was also composed from a video-set in real-time that as operation introduced the same open-source code.

"Interferenze Festival", 27/09/2004

 

originally conceived as "political" performance in which to use two flows deferred audio and manipulated: a mixture from recordings of the "International world bank" and the other of whimpers of children in a little locality of the Kenya, the set has been completely changed a week before. once more an impro-set composed by neons, robots, acoustic guitar with one note only, an old turnable whose disk was cut and directly burnt with chemical solvents on the place. how much it played it was ash, fire, ruins.

 

Isernia with stalker inc. / 10th july 2004

this was a live set organized in a night to play with Stalker inc of Rome. I was recording all guitar parts of "a post-fordist parade in the strike of events" and when I arrived there it was a sense of calm, bliss that rarely I've found. In this place I record a little sample, a random outs of a mixer that given strange symphonic music all capized. now it's present in "what are we doing here?". I was very happy in these days.

Rome

this was a great deal a picked live, for few intimate, in a beautiful place in Rome, devoted to the improvisation and called "Rialto". The event was organized according to the principles of the self-financing by a slice of very active iXem. The sounds were mainly incisions effected in mountain with wall-recordings, a particoular approach that I invented to record only vibrations of the walls . I preserve a beautiful memory of that days and the relationship that I had with all those people that made part of it.

a little pasted set with percussions, synth to partial block and boredom organized togherer with Fhievel. the public believed that we had to make to dance music while we played our funeral march. Naples, city I live, it's a terrible city. this was the second & last time I played here...

galleria toledo

real performance organized only with the aid of resonant bodies of the duration of 45 minutes before the live of Fennesz in Naples. I used the cone of a box to which a low & deaf signal was connected. The box stirred only and didn't send forth sounds. Yet nearby to it a clip microphone took back all the winces that were managed in real time. Idea was that to create sounds departing from static vibrations. The sound of the box was not by chance given only by its movement. On the box flours were used, cereals, buttons, needles.

One of the best performance done with Fabio Selvafiorita. Using different techniques of improvisation as well as the enormous reverberation of that gigantic place where we played a doughy and dense continuous drone of rare beauty and sonorous power it came out.

A set directly played without soundcheck in play in 4 and we had not even decided anything. I launched highest clicks without measure from a moog that it was connected in turn to mixer with different microphones to contact that amplified the surface of an aluminum & a broken mirror container on which they flowed plasticses, chemical colors, fluids. 30 minutes of drones.

my first performance togheter other musicians in a festival; before of this i played small guitar improvvisative sessions. iXem was the "place" in which I felt me weel considering the unclassificable nature of my music and of this r.i.p group. a significant event in my personal research...
 

This is a BETA version of site (0.9 version). I hope to render it more satisfactory. However I never had some type of ability in web programming. I'm grateful to Crashbonsai, he has given to me the idea of a new structure for my site, for this page in particular; and Imma for photos.
